WHAT IS YLEP?
The Youth Leadership Enhancement Project (YLEP) is an initiative
of the 9th World Zoroastrian Youth Congress, to be
hosted in Dubai in December 2009. The Congress provides community youth between
the ages of 23 to 35 years an opportunity to be responsible future leaders, but
also serves as a platform for young Zoroastrians of varied professional and
cultural backgrounds to interact and connect with each other, thereby
establishing a strong foundation for the future of our community worldwide.
After a competitive application process 50 Zoroastrian youth have been selected
to participate in YLEP. Teams of young Zoroastrians from every participating
nation will enter a global competition for Best Community Project, a venture
that focuses on community-specific issues or needs. There are teams from across
the globe, such as Team America, Team Canada, Team Australia etc.
Team India has the largest number of participants and this is an achievement in
itself. It goes to show that Parsi and Irani youth, here in India, want to take
positive action for the enhancement of their community.
